Subject: Prośby o tłumaczenie
By the end of September, I have celebrated the following birthdays, in this order: my own; a niece's; a brother's; and a son's. I use the word "celebrate" loosely.
The niece sometimes gets a card, plus an essential item in the pink world of the small girl, such as a packet of hair-elastics, with a sparkly bobble in the shape of a fairy. I don't like my birthday for obvious reasons and tend to buy my own presents, wrap them and give them to the children to give to me, shedding tears of self-pity.
My son Oliver, who has just turned eight, hosted a four-day event, which started last Saturday with a party at a climbing wall. Sunday and Monday, he spent at home receiving hand-delivered gifts.
After he had torn the wrapping off his present from a godfather and managed to look appropriately delighted, he proceeded to enhance the precious moment by opening the accompanying card, laying it aside unread and peering into the envelope.
"No money again," he muttered. And I shrieked "What do you say, darling?" to drown him out.
My brother gets a telephone call. That's all. On my side of the family, this is how we mark adult birthdays. The celebrant sits back and waits for all his immediate family to call him and ticks them off one by one. The rule is that the calls have to come in, obviously, on the day itself.
In my husband's family, on the other hand, not only do they call each other on the day but they also produce sumptuous presents: portraits are secretly painted and unveiled, family silver changes hands and there are trips to Venice.
But that's not us and, as you may have gathered, birthdays present the adult Johnsons with the one complex demand: to remember on what day the birthday of the close family member falls so the all-important call can be made. But this is even harder than it sounds. Even if you have a birthday book or the big days marked on the calendar, the fact is one does not necessarily always know what day it is, does one?

to czy jeśli na potrzeby projektu zmieniłoby się literki i zapisało Famyly to dalej "można" to czytać jako famili? ;p czy ktoś widząc pierwszy raz ten napis odczyta go jako famili?;p

to ma być grupa pewna i powiedzmy widzisz plakat i tam pisze Famyly coś tam ;p i jako osoba, która pierwszy raz to przeczytasz "odczytasz to" jako "famili" czyli rodzina czy np bd się zastanawiał co to znaczy, bo nigdy tego słówka nie widziałeś? ;p
często ludzie w nazwach np j zastępują y albo nie wiem nic zamiast rizi piszą reezi itp ;p i czy tutaj takie coś jest "czytelne" dla czytającego ;p
