Subject: Gang crime....

Today I was driving home when I saw two guys arguing with a group of teenagers down a road as I drove past. I turned around as I thought it looked a bit strange and pulled into the road.

There were two guys both 50-60's with an old retriever and group of 8-10 teenagers (14-16 y/o's). The two guys were getting punched and kicked by a couple these little turds, needless to say I got out the car and run over shouting. The boys then run off with the rest of there group.

One of the older guys eye been cut and had swollen up and he had blood pouring down his face. The other had a swollen face from where he had been kicked in the head.

A couple of locals came out and phoned the police and then sat the two guys down. One of the women that came out cleaned the bleeding guys head, then I dressed it with a bandage. Phone calls were made to the two guys wives while they were being patched up.

The wives arrived shortly afterwards, followed by two ambulance's, about 10 minutes after the initial calls were made. They assessed the guy that was bleeding, taking both of them off for stitches and an x-ray about twenty minutes later. I would like to point out the police still hadn't arrived at this time, thirty minutes from the time the 999 call was made!

I left shortly after the two ambulances, leaving some contact details with the wife of one of the beaten-up men.

What has our society come to that two guys can't take a dog for a walk down to a pub with being attacked!

Is it just me or is everyone getting a little bit right-wing when it comes to thinking about how to punish this dross?

The parents have to take responsibility for their kids. As the Daily Mail might say, gang life is replacing family life for some kids, and it's the parents' fault that this is happening.

As a parent, how would you mete out justice if your nipper was caught doing such stuff?

I'd meat out justice by slapping them with steaks.

I would try and avoid them getting involved in the first place. The Princes Trust have just published an article about gangs, the upshot of which appears to be that kids join gangs because they have no role models as parents. I would hope that we as parents provide a strong enough sense of right and wrong to be considered decent role models for our boy. But time will tell.

im only 22 but when i was a young lad i remember police on the streets i remember being terrified of my dad if i ever played up.

the breakdown in society is down to parents, not all but a surprissing amount. you know the type the ones that let their kids run around supermarkets shouting and screaming, pulling things of shelves while the parents stagger around in their apathetic comotose. the parents who discover their kids are smoking at the age of 12 and instead of punishing them they go out and buy them fags because its easier. i hate these people with a passion so strong it gives me energy. they grew up only knowing the welfare state will always provide, thanfully most people have too much pride to rely on the state.
